Ten-year-old Ryan King suffers from spina bifida.  So when Ryan’s class was planning a hiking trip, her mother figured on making alternative plans. 

She figured wrong.

Ryan’s mother wasn’t counting on the kindness of relative strangers.  A teacher at the school, who hardly knew Ryan,

offered to carry her “on his back all day” so that she would not be excluded.

This he did, as the class explored “390-million-year-old fossil beds” at an Ohio State Park.  Ryan’s mother is now hoping that “this story will inspire” the widespread inclusion of those in wheelchairs.
