Turns out that it was also integral to the childhood of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Twain’s actual name). So for years, people have searched for Clemens’ long-lost signature upon the walls of this Hannibal, Missouri sanctuary.
Kevin Mac Donnell and Alan Gribben (two Twain scholars) have recently verified that a signature discovered there by Linda Coleberd and Cindy Lovell is indeed Twain’s. How
exciting to find this vestige of the real Tom Sawyer!
