Nope, not Atlantis

The Matterhorn    (Zachary Grossen)
Yes, there is a lost continent, and yes, it’s been discovered.  But no, it’s not Atlantis.

Greater Adria broke off from North Africa approximately 140 million years ago.  It ended up buried under Southern Europe where it remains today.

Current mountain ranges in that area, such as the Alps, are actually rocky remnants of this continent.  The rest of Greater Adria “plunged “into the earth’s mantle.”

Homeless not Heedless

Homeless in NYC  (Photo by JM Suarez)
Ron Davidson knows what it’s like to be homeless.  He knows that it’s sometimes hot, sometimes cold, and often hungry.

For two years, he was out there on the street.  Now he and wife Anna own a restaurant in Ogden, Utah called Jessie Jean’s. And they give back.  Plenty.

Each week, the Davidsons offer breakfast to 20 homeless people with pay-it-forward funds.  Some help out at the restaurant in order to earn additional meals.  Chuck is one such helper.  In many ways.

When a woman recently needed a tire change near the restaurant, Chuck was there to help.  Anna took a Facebook photo of this event, hoping to “spread kindness and make people think twice before they walk past a homeless person.”

Meeting the Twain

Mark Twain Cave    (Photo by Jonathunder)
“Twainiacs” (fans of Mark Twain) well remember Tom Sawyer’s cave.

Turns out that it was also integral to the childhood of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Twain’s actual name).  So for years, people have searched for Clemens’ long-lost signature upon the walls of this Hannibal, Missouri sanctuary.

Kevin Mac Donnell and Alan Gribben (two Twain scholars) have recently verified that a signature discovered there by Linda Coleberd and Cindy Lovell is indeed Twain’s.  How exciting to find this vestige of the real Tom Sawyer!
