737 MAX Roll-out (Photo by Aka The Beav) |
While investigating the fatal Boeing crashes
of October 2018 and March 2019,
researchers are finding more and
more potentially “improper parts.”
First
it seemed just a matter of the software. Now the slat tracks (which help
wing panels to provide additional lift)
are also in question, not only with the
737 MAX planes, but also with the 737
NGs.
Worse
yet, there will be some lag time between
a Federal Aviation Administration’s order
to replace faulty parts and the actual repairs. During that 10-day interim, impaired planes
will still be allowed to zoom through the
not-so-friendly skies.
