Medi Teddy

(Smithsonian Teddy)
Once upon a time, President Theodore Roosevelt came upon a bludgeoned black bear while hunting.

This rough-and-ready hero was expected to gun the bear down.  He refused to engage in such an unfair fight.  In Theodore’s honor,
ursine replicas are now called “teddy bears.”

What Roosevelt did not anticipate is that his namesake would one day be hanging from IV poles.  Invented by 12-year-old Ella Casano and her family, Medi Teddy doubles as a holder for the IV bag.  His cuddly presence soothes children during intimidating treatments.
