Flushed but not forgotten

(Public Domain)
It seems that many who grow tired of their pet goldfish feel free to flush them.

This has resulted in an ecological imbalance within the Great Lakes system.  We’re not talking one or two goldfish there, but now “tens of millions.”

Pets are not trinkets.  Nor are they weapons.  But goldfish that are tossed like unwanted toys end up destroying the natural habitat of fish in the wild.

Can’t blame the goldfish: they’re just trying to survive a dire situation.
