The
Environmental Working Group (EWG)
tested 28 conventional cereal products,
and found that 26 contained trace
amounts of glyphosate. Even trace
amounts of this chemical may cumulatively
“pose a cancer risk,” especially
for children.
Some
General Mills products were included
in this report. The company responded
that such traces are but “a
tiny fraction of the amount the government
allows.” However, Dr.
Chensheng Lu of Harvard’s School
of Public Health points out
that the government’s EPA is
“in many ways, a political agency.”
