Humans tend to believe that others are only as good as their latest mistake. A person can do nine things right, but that tenth slip-up could push things back to square one.
Charles Barkley recently reminded those “God, judge and jury” Drew Brees bashers that nobody’s perfect.
Barkley agreed that Brees’ remarks were “insensitive,” but strongly disagreed with the amount of criticism that ensued.
You can kill a person all at once, which civilized societies know is wrong.
But you can overkill a person slowly with harsh words and harsh judgments. Civilizations have been far slower to acknowledge that.
