Escaping Atmosphere on Mars (NASA/UColorado photo) |
Those who equate the
color green with envy can now switch to a
more cheerful comparison.
When on Mars,
atmospheric green indicates the presence of
oxygen, which could be good news for
humans who plan to go there. This oxygen content, strongest at about 50 miles above
the Red Planet’s surface, “exists as a
byproduct of disintegrating carbon
dioxide.”
Astronauts within the
International Space Shuttle are able to sit
back and enjoy this green glow. The classic song, “Blue Skies,” might even need
tweaking.
