Dogged Determination

Although the very name “Fido” has its roots in loyalty, how determined would a dog actually be to rescue its faithful human companion?

Researchers from Arizona State University put this to the test by
placing dog owners in large boxes and having them cry out for help.  Each of these boxes had a light-weight door which a “dog could move aside” should it choose to do so.

A comparative experiment was done in which food items, rather than owners, were placed in the boxes.  Amazingly, more pet dogs made their way to the distressed owners than to the delectable food.

How delicious is that?
