Mixed Messages

(Public Domain)
There’s an old saying: Haste makes waste.  The haste at which COVID-19 tests and treatments are being approved is raising some red flags.

Key White House officials, including the president and vice president, are being assessed daily with coronavirus testing that might not be accurate.  FDA Commissioner Steve Hahn is therefore saying that “if the test is negative, getting a second confirmatory test” might be worthwhile.

Nevertheless, the FDA continues to not only approve, but to also recommend the use of this Abbott Laboratories rapid test.  Meanwhile, researchers from New York University have deemed this “test’s performance” to be “unacceptable,” due to its questionable results.  At best, these are mixed messages.  At worst, they can be deadly.
