Researchers at Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine have some cause to believe that Lin28, a molecule “which regulates cell growth,” may help to regenerate axons in humans. (For those
who took biology eons ago, axons are the spidery-looking, nerve-cell projections.)
During experiments on mice with serious neurological injuries, these scientists found that injections of Lin28 stimulated regrowth of damaged axons.
This in turn allowed the mice to significantly regain “walking and sensory abilities.”
