Fire with Fire and Logic with Logic

The concept of herd immunity has some validity to it, but should not be used as an excuse for coldhearted cruelty.

When a northern California official began explaining that COVID-19 deaths were simply nature’s beneficial way of culling the human herd of burdensome weaklings, it was time to fight fire with fire and logic with logic.

During an emergency city meeting, a number of rebuttals to his survival-of-the-fittest mentality were made.  They are as follows:  COVID-19 has brought down the young as well as the old, the strong as well as the weak, and the housed as well as the homeless.  To let it run rampant is to put everyone at risk.

In other words, the virus seems far less elitist than this official.  Plus, we don’t even know how much protection the so-called “herd immunity” offers.  It is somewhat of a guessing game for now, so better to bet on all human lives than merely on some.
