Talented Texans get a break

Because college tuition has been saddling students with mountains of debt, the University of Texas at Austin is determined to help.

Its board of regents recently “voted unanimously” to grant “full tuition scholarships” to qualified undergraduate residents whose families make less than $65,001 annually.  Families that make less than $125,001 annually will also get a break.

The money will be drawn from a Permanent University Fund with “a $160 million endowment.”  It will benefit talented Texans “for years to come.”
