Post Office twice as fast as message in a bottle

(Drawing by Edouard Riou)
Although we’ve long suspected that snail-mail is faster than messages in bottles, we now have some hard evidence.

Whereas a bottled message that was dropped from an ocean liner 50 years ago first arrived in Australia this week, a postcard sent from Hong Kong a mere 23 years ago arrived in Illinois last week.  This proves it: messages sent via post offices arrive more than twice as fast as those dropped into oceans!

Who would have thought?
