Researchers
from the Université Sorbonne Paris
Cité are thinking that a drink containing “more
than 5% sugar” could “increase the risk of
cancer.” This includes fruit juices,
even those without
“added sugar.”
So
what's a little sugar here and there, you say... According
to this research, approximately two cans
of “sugary drinks” per week ups the cancer risk
by 18%. This seems especially pertinent
to breast
cancers.
Although
this study shows a link between sugar intake
and cancer, it does not necessarily show a causal
one. Unhealthy conditions such as
obesity might
be influencing some research results. Chemical
additives might also “be to blame.”
