Kepler's Legacy

Johannes Kepler    (Public Domain)
Although the Kepler Space Telescope was officially retired in 2018, its legacy lives on.

During the time that Kepler was active, NASA’s discovery of exoplanets increased exponentially.  The space agency recently
released a map showing 4,000 such worlds.

Other systems are picking up where Kepler left off.  NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Surveying Satellite (TESS)   has already added 700 exoplanets to       the known inventory.  Two more, the European Characterizing Exoplanets Satellite (CHEOPS) and NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, will be good to   go within the next few years.
