Blame It on the Weather

When things go horribly wrong, those in charge tend to point fingers.  The great thing about pointing to the weather is that it can’t point back.

So when yet another race horse went down at Santa Anita Park (a total of 24 such incidents since last Christmas), Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said, “I really think the weather caused a lot of this.”

Curious souls might dig a whole lot deeper than that.  They might ask the following questions:  How about the track conditions?  How about the equine medications?  How about the racing regimens?
