A.P.P.L.E. a Day

An A.P.P.L.E. a day keeps the psychiatrist away, especially when mindfulness is in the mix.

What has been dubbed the “Apple” technique is being recommended by AnxietyUK as an antidote to coronavirus worries.  Each of the five A.P.P.L.E. letters stands for a way of dealing with uncertainty.

The first is to “Acknowledge” a worry “as it comes to mind.”
Such an “A” could also denote “Awareness.”  Next, put it on
“Pause,” just long enough to breathe a bit.  Then “Pull back,”
while telling yourself that this feeling is not necessarily factual.

“Let” this feeling float on by, as clouds do within a peaceful sky. Then “Explore” the immediate moment, which is brimming with lively sensations.  Allow yourself to experience what is, without recoiling in fear and judgment.
