Off with the Monarchy

Whereas monarchs have historically had the power to off their subjects, subjects have sometimes reversed this trend.  Yet it is quite rare for royals themselves to
voluntarily forego such wealth and power.

Therefore, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (commonly known as Harry and Meghan) have been making headlines around the world.  Their insistence upon leading somewhat normal lives (by their standards, not necessarily ours) has been met with shock and awe.

Many have declared “that the monarchy is an intolerable institution.”  It is an institution that has long denied human rights to many.  That it has also denied rights to its own was quite evident in the case of Princess Diana.  It now seems clear that Harry does not want a royal repeat.
