That’s what scientists are thinking as they brainstorm ways to construct dwellings from space-grown fungi. Mycelia, known to us earthlings as “mushrooms,” may very well take to lunar and Martian soil.
If so, that might be NASA's answer to Home Depot.
These fungi materials would then be treated with heat, which would effectively turn them into “compact brick.” So the
question remains: If this can be done, why so many unhoused folks here on earth?
