When Bob Vollmer turned 102, his body began telling him that it’s time to retire. He therefore plans to do so within a few short weeks.

In the meantime, he’s still doing survey work for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.  This consists of traveling the state to collect “field data” and confirm “boundary lines.”

What will retirement consist of?  Vollmer looks forward to farming, reading and travel.  He intends to visit “some of the South Pacific islands” that he served on during World War II.  Vollmer affirms, “I got good lungs.”
