117 and Counting

Sign of Peace   (Oura Kanetake)
At 117, Kane Tanaka is now the world’s oldest living person.

Residing at a nursing home in southern Japan, Tanaka finds plenty to do there.  When she’s not playing Othello or solving math problems (two of her favorite pursuits), she’s working on calligraphy.

Not exactly everyone’s bucket-list pursuits, but they obviously work for her.  When handed a slice of birthday cake just a few days ago, Tanaka declared, “Tasty, I want some more.”
