The Very Best Buy

Shaq in 2000  (Bigmoe797)
Imagine this:  You’re strolling through Best Buy looking for a laptop, and who do you run into but Shaquille O’Neal!

This recently happened to a fellow named Patrick Martin and his friend Mo.  So what did they do?  Did they rush right up and request an autograph?  A selfie?  No, they instead offered condolences for the loss of O’Neal’s sister and Kobe.

Shaq was touched.  So touched that, as Martin and Mo walked away, he “came back up to them and said: ‘I like y’all.’”  Shaq then told them to purchase the very best laptop they could find “on his dime.”

When grief is touched by compassion, a beautiful alchemy can result.  Love is everywhere, and a routine shopping trip can turn on a dime in its direction.

Once Quit, Twice Improved

(Public Domain)
Do you believe in magic?  Not the kind that pulls rabbits from sleeves, but the kind that heals from within.    If so, then   quit smoking.

Once you stop, the healing begins.  First, the damage is halted.  Second, the damage is repaired.  Lung cells that were somehow spared from the acrid onslaught now assume leadership.  They begin regenerating healthy cells within major airways.

This regeneration starts the moment smoking stops.  Even after decades of heavy smoking, your magical body is ready, willing and able to makes things better.  So all we are saying is give health a chance.

Hair Today, More Tomorrow

Samson and Delilah   (Painting by Jose Echenagusia)
Hair, and lots of it, is featured within a number of religious traditions.  Sikhs cherish it, as do Rastas.  There’s also the story of Samson and Delilah.

Although most folks succumb to barbers and beauticians, some remain steadfast in their refusal to be shorn.  After being traumatized by scissors-happy clinicians at age six, Nilanshi Patel came to a firm decision: No more haircuts!

Now she’s 17, and her hair just keeps growing.  When it reached the august length of six feet, two inches, Patel surpassed her own Guinness World Record from last year.  Even though she needs high heels to avoid tripping over these tresses, Patel calls her hair a “lucky charm.”
