300,000 and counting

For Major Bill White, a Marine who served at Iwo Jima, this might have been the best Valentine’s Day ever.

Back in January, the 104-year-old put out a public request for Valentines.  They’ve been arriving “from strangers around the world” ever since.  To date, White has received more than 300,000.

White’s parents had taught him the value of preserving mementos, and he’s been scrapbooking each year.  Let’s just say that his 2020 binder will be especially thick.

White says that “he will always be a tough Marine” and is still ready to serve in any way he can.
