Shining Example

For the past 30 years, Albert Lexie had shined one pair of shoes after another at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

He had done this twice a week, making the two-hour trip from his home in Monessen, Pennsylvania.  Over the years, Lexie’s tips added up, to the tune of 200,000-plus dollars.

Did he use this cash for a trip around the world?  For a new house?  For a fleet of cars?  Guess again.

Lexie donated this huge sum to the Free Care Fund, which “helps uninsured or underinsured children receive medical care they need.”  He was a shining example, in many more ways than one.
