Angels, God and kombucha

The Fizz That Is    (Photo by Mgarten)
Don’t know what kombucha is?  It’s a fizzy drink that helped to save Terry Harnish’s life.

Harnish, from Nova Scotia, was visiting friends at the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.  After taking the wrong turn onto a seasonal dirt road, she found herself “stuck in mud up to the wheel wells.”

Harnish tried walking her way out of there, but to no avail.  Returning to the car, she endured bouts of freezing temperatures before anyone found her.  Fortunately, she had some marzipan and kombucha to sustain her.

But the real nourishment came from faith.  Harnish stated that she “was a bit concerned,” but “knew her angels and God would save me.”  Sure enough, when things took a desperate
turn, some lads on a snowmobile came along.

Harnish now reports, “I’m doing well for a 72-year-old spinster.”

Just because it sometimes snows...

Napoleon's Retreat    (by Vasily Vereshchagin)
No need to dream of a white Christmas because it’s already happening, but that doesn’t mean global warming is a hoax.

Global warming is an overall trend, rather than measured temperature and snowfall on
particular days.  According to a recent United States government report, the trend has been quite alarming.

David Easterling of the National Centers for Environmental Information explains that this warming “is unlike any other” on modern record, and “can only be explained by human activities.”

Although said study was “released by the Trump administration,” Trump himself is not on board.  In response to this week’s weather, he tweeted:  Whatever happened to Global Warming?  This shows either a gross denial of scientific findings, a twisted sense of humor, or both.

Sometimes size does matter

It's a tough life...  (Charles M. Russell)
Size shouldn’t matter, but sometimes it just does.  Like if you’re an enormous cow.  Or even if you aren’t.

At 6 feet 4 and 2800 pounds, Knickers is an enormous steer.  Not a cow, mind you.  Cows are females, steers are neutered males.

Now that we’ve got that straight, why does it matter?  Because size can sometimes make a difference between life and death.  Especially if you’re a steer slated for slaughter.

Since Knickers is too big for processing within an abattoir (fancy French word for slaughterhouse), he was spared.  Besides, cowboys like him.  As do cattle.  He’s kind of the Arnold Schwarzenegger of the ranch.

So if you're big and popular, you might wind up in Hollywood,  Or in the NBA.  At the very least, you won’t end up as prime rib.
