Look up, not down

Emerson circa 1857  (Public Domain)
Ralph Waldo Emerson famously said, “Hitch your wagon to a star,” and Stephen Hawking seemed to agree.

Hawking left humans with this last piece of advice:  Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Whereas feet come in handy here on Earth, Hawking did not limit strides to this one planet.  He sincerely believed that people will be knocking about the Solar System within the next 100 years.

Hawking also believed that space aliens exist and that their intelligence may be far greater than ours.  However, he was not able to determine how such intelligence came about.

Insisting that God does not exist leaves little room for intelligent-design speculation.  Nor does it account for Hawking’s own transcendent brilliance.
