Death to the Death Penalty

Resurrection of Lazarus  (Painting by Leon Bonnat)
Resurrections aside, an erroneous death penalty is irreversible.  Such an injustice could therefore never be remedied.

The death penalty has historically been fraught with other injustices.  It has often been linked with “the race of the defendant,” the location of the crime, and/or “the available budgetary resources.”

Washington State has recently taken a giant step toward greater justice.  After having had “a moratorium on executions since 2014,” Washington is now doing away with them altogether.

Senator Reuven Carlyle explained that “the death penalty is below us as a civil, just and moral society.”
