The essence
of her commencement speech was
that technology “needs a human
heartbeat.” In other words, it should be
used to bring folks together rather than
to divide and con them.
Was this an
earnest sentiment, or merely another attempt
to seduce the masses? Quickie
apologies on TV commercials don’t do
much to instill trust. Perhaps
an ivory-tower monologue will.
And yet, as
Sandberg urged graduates to “own
their mistakes,” details about Facebook’s
own were strangely absent from her talk.
