Charles Krauthammer: From there to here

(Krauthammer in 1986)
If others had faced Charles Krauthammer’s mighty challenges, they may never have gotten from there to here.
While now facing perhaps the greatest challenge of all, impending death, Krauthammer has been revealing the source of his strength.  First on his list is appreciation for a life well lived “with no regrets.”

Then there are the logistics of his craft: an ability to bridge great political divides.  He recently explained: The one thing I try to do when I want to persuade someone is never start with my assumptions, because if I do, we’re never going to get anywhere.

Instead, Krauthammer focuses upon the other person’s perspective and attempts to make a connection by way of a “logical sequence.”  He applies the same grit that has allowed him to soldier on for decades, while all along being paralyzed from the neck down.
