Prince William of the
United Kingdom thinks that saving
Planet Earth is worth a shot.
He therefore created an Earthshot Prize, to help put the brakes on “environmental degradation over the next 10 years.” This initiative was inspired by John F. Kennedy’s “moonshot” program, which galvanized efforts to land Americans on the lunar surface within a decade.
Earthshot Prizes will consist of five $1.3 million awards “each year for the next 10 years for projects that seek environmental solutions by 2030.” That’s a huge incentive for brilliant minds to jump right on it. Where they land will help determine the future of our planet and its inhabitants.
