While humans have been trying to lose weight, bears have been desperate to pack on the pounds.
Winter is coming, and an Alaskan winter is especially harsh. Nothing for a big old brown bear to do but sleep it off. Yet in order to wake up again, it becomes necessary to pile on the padding.
October bears have been dragging their swelling bellies in search of more salmon. Not much time left before the snow starts to fly. By then, every wise teddy will be stuffed.
