Ticket to Nowhere

(Fair Use)

Imagine the excitement of winning the lottery, then imagine that ticket getting lost in the mail.

For Sue Burgess, this scenario’s been all too real.  After nailing Florida’s Second Chance Lottery to the tune of $1,000, she mailed her ticket in promptly.  The postmark was well within deadline, yet the package was never received by lottery authorities.

Tracking revealed that it did make Tallahassee, but all trace of it then disappeared.  No one quite knows where it ended up.

As for Burgess, she’s asking the USPS to make good on this loss.  But the odds of this occurring might as good as those of winning the lottery.
