Looking Out for Homeless Jesus

Homeless Jesus  (Photo by Mario Roberto Duran Ortiz)

It only took “a few minutes” for someone to notify the police that a homeless person was sleeping on a nearby bench.

Turned out that this bench was associated with St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Bay Village, Ohio.  The “homeless person” turned out to be a newly-installed “Homeless Jesus” statue.

The statue’s original sculptor had paired his lifelike creation with words from Matthew 25:40.  They read: Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Did the person who called the police have this teaching in mind?  Hopefully so.
