Hoping to be
the fourth nation to land on
the lunar surface, Israel calls this washing-machine
sized explorer Beresheet (meaning “In the
Beginning”).
Hopping a
ride aboard a SpaceX rocket, Beresheet cozies up with an Indonesian
satellite and a U.S. Air Force spacecraft. Although the “lunar
surface operations are meant to
last just two days,” the trip there
will be much longer. Touchdown is
not set to occur until April
11th.
Apollo 11's
Buzz Aldrin extended his best
wishes for this journey to his “old
stomping ground.”
