Hayabusa-2 Artistic Impression (by Go Mayazaki) |
The Japanese
spacecraft, Hayabusa-2, managed to
scoop up some dirt from the Ryugu asteroid. Ryugu is located 200 million
miles from Earth, and is one of the “first
rocks that formed around the Sun before
the planets existed.”
If Ryugu’s
dirt contains chemicals associated
with life, then the probability of life
existing on other planets increases. This is in accordance with the theory that asteroids may
have inoculated planets with
life-giving elements.
