Pal Cal

Coolidge in 1919   (Public Domain)
Calvin Coolidge once said, “We do not need more of the things that are seen, we need more of the things that are unseen.”

So when this 30th President of the United States saw a thief in his hotel room, he called upon the unseen.  According to The Dispatch, Coolidge told the man, “If you want money, let’s talk this over.”

The would-be burglar explained that he and a friend needed to pay their hotel bill and buy train tickets back to college.  Coolidge then “gave him $32, calling it a loan so the intruder would not be a thief.”

How’s that for a president who focuses upon breaking down barriers rather than building them?
