Icy Genocide

Winter Landscape  (Hendrick Avercamp, c. 1608)
According to a study from University College London, cold-hearted genocide turned downright icy back in 1610 CE.

After European settlers in the Americas “killed nearly 56 million indigenous people over the course of roughly 100 years,” native farmlands reverted to forests.  This disrupted the delicate atmospheric balance, causing “a massive decrease in carbon dioxide.”

Lower levels of carbon dioxide resulted in “a global chill… that is now known as the Little Ice Age.”  What goes around comes around.  If mass genocide continues long enough, perpetrators will be frozen in their tracks.
