Mr. Church: Nope, not the Pope

When they hear the title “Mr. Church,” faithful Roman Catholics might think of the Pope.

Faithful Hollywood fans might instead think of Eddie Murphy, who is currently starring in a movie by that same name.  Murphy, who at 55 now usually prefers retirement mode, was intrigued by the script.

Based upon the true story of “a chef that’s been hired to look after a dying single mother and her only daughter,” the plot gives Murphy a chance to exercise his dramatic chops.

Spoiler alert:  Murphy even gets to shed a tear towards the end.  Hopefully, this will sit better with fans than his teary-eyed scene in the 2002 “Adventures of Pluto Nash.”
