For those who are overwhelmed with thoughts about COVID-19, there is a whole new XIX to ponder.
A nineteenth type of H2O ice has been recently discovered. It is not the kind commonly found within summery drinks, nor is it the kind commonly feared upon wintry roads. It is a four-sided entity, forged within laboratories “at ultra-low temperatures and ultra-high pressures.”
Because these extreme conditions may very well exist in outer space, Ice 19 might be prevalent there. Its exotic structure could lend beauty to many a world beyond our own.
