Land of Abraham

Prophet Abraham is at the root of three great religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.  He  hailed from Ur, which is now located in southern Iraq.

To date, no pope has ever visited this land of Abraham.  Soon that will change because Francis intends to visit Iraq for three days.

Although violence and COVID-19 rage on, the pontiff is determined to proceed with these plans.  He  recently emphasized the need to show support for all Iraqi people and will “hold an interfaith meeting" right there at Ur.
