When it comes to grades, a C is better than a D. But not by much, especially when it comes to life-and-death matters.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it” may suffice in certain situations, but not when the bridge is crumbling. This seems to be the case with some in the United States, as that nation’s overall infrastructure has recently received a C grade from the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Worse yet, this was the first time that said grade surpassed a D within the past two decades. Think about it: How many vehicles, containing how many people, have made such crossings during that stretch? Although luck for most has thus far triumphed, it won’t indefinitely.
