Beware the Air

On this, the fifteenth day of March, you often hear the warning, “Beware!”  It marks the date that Julius Caesar was murdered by his own senators back in 44 BC.

Today in Beijing we have another cause for alarm.  The skies are thick with dust, in addition to the usual pollution.  A “record-setting sandstorm” has blown in from the surrounding regions.

Face masks are being worn, not just because of COVID-19, but because the city’s air has become  unbearable.  This silent killer must be halted before it runs rampant.  And so we continue to urge, “Beware the Ides of March!”
