Taking a Stand

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief  (FEMA)
There was a time within the sordid history of slavery that some churches upheld the practice, claiming it was Bible-based.

Today things are changing fast.  The Southern Baptists recently teamed up with Walmart in order to condemn the inclusion of a “Confederate battle emblem” in the Mississippi state flag.  The following is an excerpt from the Baptist statement on this issue: “The racial overtones of this flag’s appearance make this discussion a moral issue.”

It is especially relevant that white supremacists were the ones who added the Confederate emblem back in 1894. They did this in fear of the “power that African Americans gained during Reconstruction.”
