Once a Piano Man, always a Piano Man

(Fair Use)
If you’re walking down the street and you happen to hear piano music - stop, look and listen.  With any luck at all, you might have run into Billy Joel.

That’s exactly what happened the other day in Huntington, Long Island.  Joel was out for a motorcycle ride when he came upon a discarded piano.  It was just sitting there on the sidewalk, waiting to be hauled away by sanitation’s finest.

Not on Joel’s watch!  He couldn’t help but test it out by playing a lively ragtime tune.  Keys worked, yup.  Pedals worked, yup.  Final report: “The action is great…  The mechanics are perfect.”

After making these pronouncements, Joel urged bystanders that the piano “should at least be donated…”  And with this kind of publicity, it probably will be.
