Thank a Snail

Coffee-Leaf Rust   (Photo by smartse)
If you don’t fancy rusty coffee, you might want to thank a snail.

Coffee-leaf rust, a fungal disease consisting of “plant-wrecking
spores,” has been threatening your morning cup.  Fortunately,
Asian trampsnails savor spores as much as you savor coffee.

Their munching has saved many a leaf from a fate worse than Starbucks, and many a human from a sleep-laden start.
