The North Atlantic Craton is offering up some diamondiferous chunks for the occasion. This ancient
rocky mantle that underlies parts of Canada, Greenland and Scotland not only harbors diamonds, but also provides clues about Earth’s distant past.
How distant?
Scientists estimate that the North Atlantic Craton is “up to 2.7 billion years old.”
