Dictionary.com defines “panic” in the following way:
a sudden overwhelming fear,
with or without cause, that produces
hysterical or irrational behavior…
Note that, according to this definition, there can be panic with good cause. Nevertheless, panic “produces hysterical or irrational behavior.”
Panic, therefore, does not seem functional in combating a serious problem.
Pandemics are tough enough to deal with. When they
become pan[ic]demics, the problem greatly worsens.
Better to proceed with calm reason that is rooted in faith rather than fear.
