That’s why seafood was the order of their day. European cave
evidence shows that marine life was a main dish 80,000 years ago. The Neanderthal
diet not only included fish, but also crustaceans and sea mammals. Mussels and waterfowl were on the menu, too.
Because seafood is rich in fatty acids which “promote the development of brain tissues,” such delicacies may have helped to foster the cognitive development of early humans.
